Following Trump's decision to cut ties with the UN health agency, the World Health Organisation (WHO), Europe's economic power Germany has described the move as "disappointing."
In a tweet on Saturday, the German Minister of Health, Jens Spahn said that if the WHO was to "make any difference," it would need a "reform".
He also added that the EU would need to take up more role in the funding of the health agency, by "playing a leading role and engaging more financially."
The minister tweeted this in German, English, and French.

Jens tweeted, "That's a disappointing backlash for International Health. If @WHO shall make any difference for the future it needs reform. And the EU must take a leading role and engage more financially. That's one of our @BMG priorities for our EU presidency. #EU2020BMG."

Trump, on Friday, had said that the US would be severing ties with the WHO after he accused the organisation of not doing enough in the fight against the pandemic.
He said that the organisation had colluded with China to cover up the gravity of the pandemic, causing it to become a global crisis that has claimed the lives of nearly 400,000 people.
