Germany Describes Trump's Vote Twice Comment As 'Unscrupulou

German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, has described US President Donald Trump as "unscrupulous" after he urged voters to vote twice, an act that violates the laws in the states in the United States.

Maas said, in an interview with Bild, a German daily, that it was "disturbing" that an American president would be in need of such a move.

He said, “We owe an incredible number of things to the United States and the country remains one of our closest partners but… it is disturbing to see that an American president thinks he might need such.”

“I have confidence that Americans’ good sense will scupper this unscrupulous effort to sow doubt on the validity of the election with the later aim, probably, of not accepting defeat."

While speaking against the mail-in voting system that he has been described as an attempt by the opposition party to "rig" the election, Trump had suggested that voters polled twice - at the polling station and the main-in vote system.

Germany and the US have had a growing tense relationship, with Germany turning down Trump's invitation to attend the G7 meeting that was scheduled to hold in the US because Russia's President, Vladimir Putin, would be in attendance.
