The first series of clinical trials of a vaccine for the coronavirus pandemic has been authorised by the German Government, this is according to the country's regulatory body, giving the go-ahead on the use of the vaccines on human subjects as developed by German firm Biontech and US giant Pfizer.

The regulatory body said, “The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut… has authorised the first clinical trial of a vaccine against COVID-19 in Germany."
It also said that the approval of the test was the “result of a careful assessment of the potential risk/benefit profile of the vaccine candidate."
