Gombe Lawmaker To Construct Schools, Hospital In Six Weeks

The member representing Akko federal constituency in Gombe state, Usman Bello Kumo has approved the construction of schools and a maternity hospital in his constituency.

The contracts were awarded to be completed within six weeks.

Kumo made the disclosure at the ceremony marking the commencement of the projects at Tumfure, Gona and Pindiga districts of Akko local government area.

The lawmaker who doubles as Chairman of the House Committee on Police Affairs was represented by the Speaker, Gombe State House of Assembly, Abubakar Luggerewo at the ceremony.

Luggerewo said the maternity hospital which is a modern one will be constructed and commissioned within six weeks.

He further stated that the 45-bed capacity hospital will be equipped with modern facilities to improve quality healthcare delivery. 

The lawmaker also flagged-off the construction of six classrooms, teachers offices and a store in Pindiga. 

According to him, the move was necessary to reduce the number of out of school children. 

Meanwhile in Akko district, the lawmker awarded a contract for the construction of an Islamic school at Barambu community while inspecting an ongoing construction of three class rooms at Akkoyel.

Other contracts awarded by the lawmaker include: drilling of water boreholes at Kombani Isa, Garin Solok, Tashan Magarya Kumo, Kumo Kan Bariki, Kalshingi, Unguwan Direbobi Kumo, Garin Bogo, Jauroji Kumo, Tudun Kuka, Sumbe Pindiga and Yankari communities.

The Chairman of Akko local government area, Abubakar Barambu who spoke on behalf of the people commended the lawmaker for the developmental projects.
