Gombe First Lady Disburses N40 Million To Women In Billiri

The First Lady of Gombe State, Hajiya Asma'u Inuwa Yahaya has disbursed N40 million to women in Billiri Local Government Area of the state.

The First Lady flagged off the disbursement of the cash on Wednesday as part of her empowerment programme across the eleven LGAs in the state.

While addressing beneficiaries, Mrs Yahaya said the programme was aimed at supporting women in the LGA especially the vulnerable.

She stated that the empowerment would improve livelihood of the women and increase earning in their home trades.

She noted that through the support, the women could contribute to the income of their families and cater for the needs of their children.

She explained that the N40 million would be shared amongst 2000 women in the LGA from its 10 political wards.

She added that other women would benefit from food items to be distributed through the empowerment initiative. 

The First Lady disclosed that that 2,020 would receive a bag of rice each while another set of 2,020 would receive a bag of maize each.

While distributing N1 million to women groups in the LGA, she added that another set of 2,020 women would receive a parcel of wrapper each.

She added that the government was planning for more of such initiatives to address women's issues in the state. 

Mrs Yahaya further called on the women to come out in their numbers to vote for her husband, the Gombe state governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in the forthcoming election. 

The Caretaker Chairman of Billiri LGA appreciated the First Lady for the timely intervention to support women in the LGA. 

The First Lady who was accompanied by the wife of the state's Deputy Governor, Deborah Manassah Daniel Jatau had earlier stopped at the Palace of Mai Tangale, HRH. Alhaji Sanusi Danladi Maiyamba.

She paid homage to the Emir while intimating him on the reason for her visit.

The Emir appreciated her and wished her well as she supports women in the LGA.
