Gombe First Lady Empowers Over 14,000 Women In Dukku, Dolls Out N44 Million

Wife of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, Hajiya Asma'u Inuwa Yahaya has empowered over 14,000 women in Dukku Local Government Area of the state.

The First Lady who launched the empowerment programme on Monday announced the cash transfer of N44 million to 2,200 women in the LGA.

The First Lady's empowerment was part of her commitment to support vulnerable women across the eleven local government areas of the state through the code-named programme, ‘Inuwar Alheri Women Empowerment’. 

While speaking at the event, the First Lady said each of the 2,200 women would receive N20,000.

She further explained that other 2,600 women were to receive a bag of rice each while another set of 2,600 women would receive a bag of maize each.

She added that 2,600 parcel of wrappers were set aside for the same number of women. 

This was contained in a statement signed by Safiyanu Danladi Mairiga of the state's APC Campaign Media Directorate.

According to the statement, women groups across eleven wards in the LGA received N1.1 million. 

She further assured the people of Dukku of more of the gesture by the All Progressives Congress (APC) government led by her husband.
