Gombe Governor Engages 500 Youths As Security, Others

The governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has engaged 500 youths in different jobs to alleviate unemployment.

The governor engaged the youths in the government's scheme, Gombe State Security, Traffic and Environmental Corps (GOSTEC).

Yahaya said this will reduce social vices in communities.

The governor disclosed this on Monday, while declaring a two-week training open for the beneficiaries.

The youths are being trained by relevant authorities at the NYSC orientation camp in Akko local government area of Gombe State.

The governor further stated that the empowerment was in line with the goals of his government in engaging youths.

He further stated that the government is working on empowering about 2,000 youths in collaboration with At-Risk Children Project (ARC-P).

He added that all the beneficiaries will be posted to the 11 local government areas of the state.

Explaining the responsibilities of the youths after their training, he said they would be available to enforce traffic, security and environment laws while working with other primary agencies.
