Gombe Governor Inaugurates Healthcare Facility In Jekadafari

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has commissioned the Doma Health Clinic in Jekadafari ward of Gombe metropolis.

The clinic is one of many healthcare projects in the state embarked by the governor Yahaya-led administration.

The project was executed through the Gombe State Agency for Social Development to cater for the health needs of over 93 thousand people covering critical areas like maternal and child health, deliveries, immunisation and health education among other important areas.

The governor while inaugurating the facility noted that his administration has recorded great success in providing quality and affordable healthcare services to the people.

"When we came into government, we found a very bad situation; the situation of health care in Gombe was at its lowest ebb; no functional primary health care centres, no functional secondary health facilities.

"Infact, there was a total neglect of the system."

The governor further said through his administration's support alongside development partners and the people of the state, his government was able to revamp the health sector by providing at least one functional health facility in each of the 114 wards of the state.

He noted that his administration has equally remodelled the state Specialist hospital and provided "a veritable platform for the training and re-training of health workers especially young Doctors who now undergo internship at the facility."

Governor Yahaya added that his administration has also renovated and expanded the general hospitals in Bajoga, Kaltungo and built a brand new 200 capacity bed hospital in Kumo the headquarters of Akko Local Government Area.

He further explained that, of significant importance to his administration is the ongoing construction of 600 capacity School of Nursing and Midwifery to consolidate on the manpower needs and development of health workers in the state.

He described the Gombe State Contributory Health Scheme (GoHealth ) as remarkable flagship project by his administration towards attainment of Universal Health Coverage.

"As at today, over 120 thousand persons have been registered and what gladdens my heart the most is the under previledged, the displaced persons- about 40,000 of them that have been enrolled and are enjoying the services of GoHealth.

"So, I am proud to say Gombe under my leadership is doing well in terms of health care delivery".
