Gombe Gubernatorial Aspirant, MD KEDCO Denies Being Sacked

Gombe Gubernatorial Aspirant, MD KEDCO Denies Being Sacked

Gomber Gubernatorial Aspirant, MD KEDCO, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna

The Managing Director, Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna has described the report that he has been relieved of his duties owing to financial mismanagement and incompetence as fake news.

Gwamna, a Gombe State gubernatorial aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, in a statement on Thursday, by Director of Publicity, Gwamna, Campaign Organisation, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, described the sacking story of the erudite politician as a fake and fabricated report.

The statement described the reports as being politically motivated and aimed at denting his image.

According to the statement, it must be placed on record that both online platforms that published the fake news are known to have flair for peddling baseless rumours.

‘’The fake publication which is purely politically motivated to rubbish Dr. Gwamna being a political heavyweight, a frontrunner and aspirant of the PDP vying for the governorship seat in Gombe should be seen as the handiwork of opposition to Gwamna’s ambition, ‘’the statement said.

‘’Dr Gwamna who is also the Sardaunan Gombe has made a lot of impact and investments in youth and women and enjoys sheer love of the ordinary people, has been seen by the opposition as a serious threat hence, they have resorted to fake publicity to harm his political image.’’

‘’To put the record straight KEDCO under Dr Gwamna ‘s leadership had made highly impressive achievements building the company to one of the best DisCos in the country, hence the ground that he was sacked on financial mismanagement is nothing but well-fabricated lies aimed at suppressing the very impressive CV of Dr Gwamna.’’

‘’Given his political ambition to become the next governor of Gombe State, Dr. Gwamna will soon resign to face his political ambition based on the guidelines from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to commence full-scale political activities.’’

‘’However, he has not resigned but will do that and inform the public accordingly and even if he resigns he is still the MD of Sahelian Energy, a company that owns 50% of shares in KEDCO.

‘’It should be placed on record also that any news of the sack of such high profile personality will be done through the Board and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) and not from unserious online platforms which are the only source of such baseless information.’’

‘’It is also good to note that fidelity bank has not in any way taken over the management and activities of KEDCO as it was insinuated by the online media.’’

‘’These news outlets and their management by this release have seven days to apologise and withdrew such unfounded news or face the legal consequences of this malicious publication aimed at serving whatever interest they so wish.’’
