Gombe: Professors, Postgraduate Students From Unijos Visit GOGIS

Professors and postgraduate students (M.Sc level) of the Department of Geography and Planning from the University of Jos have visited the Gombe Geographic Information Systems (GOGIS).

The delegation was received by the Director General of GOGIS, Dr Kabiru Usman Hassan in Gombe State. 

In a statement on Monday by the GOGIS, the delegation would embark on a 4-day intensive field studies in the state from Tuesday.

The statement noted that the visit was part of the minimum requirements to earn a Master’s degree in Environmental and Resources Planning, in Population and Manpower Planning, in Geography, and in Geography Education. 

The delegation explained that the state was selected due to its conducive environment for the field activities. 

"The choice of Gombe and its environs is strategic because it provides the conducive environment to conduct all the necessary field work activities required," the leader of the delegation said.

"And GOGIS is a successful GIS emporium that attracts academic empiricism, hence the interest by the postgraduate students to undertake field studies which will involve several academic projects and activities at various locations in the state," he added.

Meanwhile the statement added that the delegation would tour round the GOGIS various departments and units to study its professional operations.
