Gombe revenue service explores partnership with Galaxy Backb

The Gombe State Internal Revenue Service (GIRS) has begun exploring a partnership with Galaxy Backbone Limited on digitizing tax administration.

The Executive Chairman of the GIRS, Aisha Adamu stated this on Friday when she led a delegation from the service to the Galaxy Backbone office in Abuja.

The delegation was received by the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of the Agency, Professor Ibrahim A. Adeyanju. 

Adamu said the visit was a part of efforts by the service to collaborate with stakeholders and relevant authorities to deliver on their mandate.

She said: "Partnership with Galaxy Backbone Limited will accelerate our effort on digitizing tax administration by leveraging on digital solutions and innovative technologies that will help towards achieving the mandates of the service, that's to boost revenue generation, simplify collection and block leakages among others.

"To achieve the above objectives, the service needs reliable and uninterrupted internet services, a harmonized Database management system, robust information and payment systems, technical support and cyber security services among others."

Anas Babata Kumo, the Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman who made this available in a statement on Friday said the delegation was taken around for a facility inspection tour to Data Centre Security and Power Centres of the company.

Meanwhile, on his part, the CEO/MD of Galaxy Backbone Limited, Professor Ibrahim A. Adeyanju appreciated the delegation for the visit and expressed willingness to partner in achieving common goals.

He said: "Galaxy Backbone Limited is a government-owned company that provides ICT Products, Services and Digital Infrastructures, Technical support in many areas not limited to Network Services, Hosting, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing Services, Digital Skills Training, System Development and Integration among others for the Governments, Corporate Organisation and Individuals.

"The agency is under the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy that has the mandate to accelerate the use of ICT and Telecommunication technologies for National development in terms of Digital Economy, in making for a Nigeria digital society.

"Gombe State hosted the North Eastern Zonal office, therefore collaboration between us would be significantly appreciated."
