Gombe Set to Exatract Oil, Gas, Signs MoU with Oil Firm

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya

The governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has expressed the need to harness the oil and gas discovered at the Kolmani oilfield in the state.

The governor made the remark Tuesday when he signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rift Oil and Petroleum Company.

Yahaya said it has become necessary especially with the signing into law the Petroleum Industry Act.

He further expressed displeasure how other people have considered the North as parasite despite the blessing of abundant natural resources.

While noting the present economic hardship, he blamed the previous administrations for the inability to explore the abundant natural resources in the state.

The governor further stated that his administration had been engaging genuine investors to harness the God-given gifts in the state.

He said, “The need for us to explore and get maximum benefit from our God-given natural endowments is imperative now having realised how much ground we have lost in that direction."

He further expressed his commitment towards making life better for the people of Gombe State.

While noting the competence of Rift oil and Petroleum Company, he said he had been engaging President Muhammadu Buhari to hasten action by NNPC and other relevant agencies.
