The Gombe State House of Assembly has, on Tuesday, impeached Abubakar Sadiq Kurba as its speaker.
According to Channels TV, the speaker was impeached after 16 of state's 24 lawmakers voted for his removal.

Following Kurba's impeachment, the house has since appointed Abubakar Muhammad Luggerewol to replace him as the speaker.
The proceeding that led to Kurba's impeachment was conducted by Siddi Buba, the deputy speaker.
The newly-appointed speaker Luggerewol was sworn in after polling 15 of the house votes.
Luggerewol currently represents Akko Central constituency at the Gombe state Assembly.
