Gombe: Yahaya delivers additional dialysis machines to speci

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has delivered additional dialysis machines and other medical support to the State Specialist Hospital, as a boost to the health sector.

The State Commissioner of Health, (Dr) Habu Dahiru disclosed this on Thursday, adding that the new machines were part of efforts to "reduce the morbidity and mortality rates associated with acute and chronic renal failure, conditions that often require regular dialysis."

He added that the Governor's gesture was equally in response to the numerous complaints from patients who initially had to travel to neighbouring states for the dialysis treatment.

In a statement by the Governor's Spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Dahiru noted that the new machines and enhanced medical support were expected to provide much-needed relief and convenience to the patients.

He said: "This gesture is part of a broader effort by the Gombe State Government to upgrade healthcare services and infrastructure in order to ensure that residents have access to quality medical care within the state. His Excellency's goal always is to provide the best possible healthcare services to the citizens, and this is a significant step in that direction."

He added that the delivery of the equipments will greatly benefit patients suffering from kidney-related ailments and reducing the strain on existing facilities and improve the overall health outcomes in the State.

Dahiru further said: "To ensure the effective operation of the new dialysis units, the Gombe State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Federal Teaching Hospital, FTH, Gombe to bring in additional manpower, including consultant nephrologists and biomedical engineers, to support the smooth functioning of the dialysis unit."
