Google Releases New Update To Chrome For Android Tablet To Make It Compatible

Google Releases New Update To Chrome For Android Tablet To

Google has released an update to Chrome for Android tablets that adds new capabilities like the ability to drag and drop data out of Chrome and a side-by-side view for better tab navigation.

Users will be able to switch between tabs by swiping across the address bar thanks to the side-by-side layout (as shown in the gif below).

This is useful in situations like split-screen where it is difficult to read tab names.

Users may move links, photos, and text from Chrome to apps like Gmail, Keep, and Photos using the drag-and-drop capabilities.

In July, Google made comparable drag-and-drop capability available for Android tablet apps like Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slide, and Keep.

Additionally, the improved Chrome for Android tablets introduces a grid layout for tabs to make it simpler for users to transition between them rather than requiring them to move across the horizontal line of tabs.

Users may now swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get huge previews of all open tabs thanks to the redesign.

The tab switcher in the Chrome mobile app already has this capability available.

The business announced that Chrome for tablets will "soon" get its tab groups functionality, which was first made available for Chrome for desktop in 2020.

“No matter if you prefer using a mouse, a stylus, or your finger, the Chrome on Android experience should be as intuitive and familiar on tablets as on your computer or phone.

"We’re constantly exploring new ways to make it easier and more enjoyable to use Chrome on your Android tablet — whether it’s easier navigation with the visual tab grid, switching to desktop mode, or finding the tab quickly,” said Lola Adams, Product Manager, Chrome, in a statement.

As it gears ready to introduce its own Pixel tablet next year, Google is gradually enhancing the Android tablet experience through app updates and OS upgrades.
