Gov Otti receives rescued Abia school kids, tasks parents on

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has received the three rescued school children who were abducted on May 10, 2024, and reunited them with their parents. The children, Gideon (8), Divine (6), and Israel (4), were rescued in Anambra and Delta States after an intense manhunt.

The Governor commended the security operatives involved in the rescue operation and urged parents to be more careful and responsible in ensuring the safety and security of their children.

Governor Otti emphasized that no excuse can justify parents' failure to live up to their primary responsibility of ensuring their children's security. He expressed joy that the children had finally been reunited with their parents and used the opportunity to admonish parents to be more careful about the safety and security of their children.

"I will like to also admonish parents to be more careful because this was avoidable. First of all, you should not hand over your children to people you do not know, be they Keke or Okada riders. There is nothing you're doing that is more important than looking after your children. That is my word to parents, grandparents, and everybody who has something to do with one Abia child or another," Otti said.

He further implored security operatives to prosecute all those involved in the abduction and urged communities to return to the positive culture of seeing all children as their own.

The Governor reassured of his administration's commitment to securing the state and developing the economy, noting that security is essential for economic growth.

"One of the promises that we made to our people was that we must secure the State because it is our intention to develop the state and grow our economy. So, when you see me working very hard, visiting security agencies and their heads, it is to sit down and be able to map out a security architecture that works for all of us," the Governor stated.

The rescue operation was carried out in three stages, with the Mayor of Ikwuano, Comrade Osinachi Nwaka, leading the first operation in Ekwulobia, Anambra State.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Commander MacDonald Uba (Rtd.), lauded the Governor's optimism, which motivated the Mayor and others who participated in the operation.
