Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has signed an agreement to pay the new minimum wage to workers in the tertiary institutions of the state.

Governor AbdulRazaq signed the agreement with the leadership of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council of the tertiary institutions to begin payment of the new minimum wage to its members on Monday.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the confirmation of the agreement was contained in a statement by the office of the state Head of Service (HoS), Susan Oluwole.

Oluwole commended the state Governor for concerning himself with the welfare of the state workers and the regular payment of their salaries despite the low income going into the state account.

“I, therefore, implore workers in the state to re-dedicate themselves to duty by being forthright and hardworking to encourage the governor to do more for the civil service,” she said.

She also lauded the level of maturity, understanding and patience displayed by the groups involved in the negotiation.
