Governor Ganduje Assents To PWDs Bill

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has finally signed the Kano State Persons With Disabilities Amendment bill 2022 into law.

The was announced at the weekly executive council meeting held at the Government House in Kano on Tuesday.

Ganduje told newsman that the law would pave way for inclusion and development of people living with disabilities in the state.

The Governor further revealed that the law provides for the establishment of a ministry to over see the affairs of persons with disabilities.

According to Ganduje, the state is very interested in making lives of PWDs better through skills acquisition and other opportunities.

He maintained that street begging remains banned as the committee set up to to evacuate beggers from the state is still doing its job.

The Kano State House of Assembly had earlier passed the PWDs amendment law 2022 on November 16, 2022, after subsequent deliberations and scrutiny by the lawmakers.

The new law provides for the establishment of a ministry, to oversee the affairs of PWDs, in addition to the allocation of 2% of all employment opportunities to the six clusters which includes the physical impaired, visually impaired.
