Governor Ugwuanyi Presents N186 billion 2022 Budget Estimate

Enugu State Governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Tuesday presented a budget estimate worth N186.635 billion for the 2022 fiscal year to the state assembly.

The budget which is tagged Budget of Sustained Growth and Consolidation is 9.9 per cent higher than the 2021 budget.

A break down of the estimate shows that  recurrent expenditure stands at N71.447 billion which represents 38 per cent, while capital expenditure is N115.158 billion which represents 62 per cent.

While presenting the budget at the floor of the assembly, Governor Ugwuanyi said that it was a reflection of his administration's 8-point agenda, noting that he would ensure the completion of all ongoing projects in the state within the 2022 fiscal year.

Major projects in the 2022 budget estimate include, construction of a mini stadium in Oji River, purchase of 10 tractors, provision of agricultural inputs, establishment and reconstruction of abattoirs, purchase of waste disposal compactor trucks and dump sites amongst others.

In his speech, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Chief Edward Ubosi, assured the governor that the budget estimate would be passed before the end of the year.
