The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has bagged the traditional title of 'Zumuncin Awak' in Kaltungo Local Government Area of the state.
The traditional title was conferred on the governor by the District Head of Awak, Muhammad Adamu Kuge.
While handing over the appointment letter to the governor, Kuge said the gesture was to recognize the governor's contributions to the community.
"This title was awarded to His Excellency in recognition of his selfless service to Awak community and Gombe State in General," the District Head said.
The governor who spoke on the achievements recorded by his administration said the drive was born out of his pure commitment to meet the yarnings of the people.
He further promised to sustain the execution of the developmental projects to all parts of the state.
"Our works are all encompassing and are everywhere; we don't discriminate based on religion, region, or ethnic differences.
"Therefore, people should unite and live in peace and harmony with one another.
"We will continue to execute developmental projects and community services with all seriousness.
"We are working tirelessly towards meeting community needs all over the state."
The governor further appealed to eligible voters to collect their PVCs and come out en mass on election day and peacefully elect competent leaders who will consolidate on the continuous process of development.
In his earlier remark, the Chairman of Awak Community Development Association, Abdulhamid Muhammed appreciated the governor for honouring their invitation, describing the gesture as an honour to the whole community.
Governor Yahaya also witnessed the semi finals and finals of the traditional wrestling competition organised annually in the community which attracted participants from different parts of the State and beyond.
The governor also made the donation of N1 million for the development of the cultural activity.
The event featured traditional dances by different cultural groups displaying the rich cultural heritage of the Awak community.
