Governor Yahaya Supports Local Traders With Over N200 Million

The Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has supported local traders in the state with sum of N250 million.

The gesture was part of the governor's effort in recognising the important roles played by the private sector for the economic growth of the state.

The governor made the announcement of his support to the traders at the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected executives of the Gombe State Inter-Local Market Traders Association.

He noted that the support would go a long way in boosting the business capital of the traders.

The governor further assured of his readiness to continue to support the traders in order to boost economic activities in the state.

While noting his background in trade, governor Yahaya said he was aware of the concerns and interests of members of the business community.

He described the business community as the critical stakeholders in governance, adding that the community needs more support.

Governor Yahaya also stressed that the state now stands as the best state in the ease of doing business in Nigeria because of the numerous policies of his administration.

"We are very much concerned with the security of lives and properties of all our traders and businessmen as well as the entire citizenry whether on the roads or in the markets.

"That is why we brought the Go-Cares programme in which we are spending more than 8 billion naira to revamp our economy which was ravaged by the effects of COVID-19 and other global challenges.

"I hereby direct security agents to work in harmony and understanding with you, especially those whose business hours extent to night-time in order to ease their activities and transportation hurdles, considering the fact that our time for closure of gates into Gombe State is 12am not 10PM."

He further urged the traders to be law abiding and continue to operate under the guidance of the law.

The governor also used the occasion to debunk the rumours that the state government was planning on demolishing Gombe markets.

"People should ensure they collect their PVCs and vote wisely in the forthcoming general elections because it is the only instrument that can be used to install the leaders of our choice."
