Governor Yusuf assigns portfolios to new commissioners

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf swore in four new commissioners on Thursday who were recently cleared by the state House of Assembly.

One of the new commissioners is Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the son of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Presidential candidate and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The others are Abduljabbar Garko, Shehu Aliyu Yarmedi, and Adamu Aliyu Kibiya.

After the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Yusuf assigned portfolios to the new state executive cabinet members.

The portfolios are Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the commissioner of Youth and Sport, Abduljabbar Garko, of Land and Survey, Shehu Aliyu Yarmedi, of Special Duties and Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, the commissioner of Commerce and Industry.

The governor stated that their appointment was guided by the conviction that they were all competent and credible. He urged all of the commissioners to take their positions with all seriousness.

"I will not hesitate to invoke appropriate action against anyone who fails to work. I call on you to work to improve the state. I expect all members of the cabinet to live up to expectations,” the governor added.
