Governor Yusuf defends nomination of Kwankwaso's son as comm

Following the nomination of Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the son of former Kano State Governor and 2023 Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, there has been a mixed reaction among the public.

The State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf who nominated Kwankwaso's son for the post has now defended his decision for the nomination.

The Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Wednesday in a statement said Kwankwaso was nominated because of his capacity to deliver.

Dawakin Tofa explained that the former presidential candidate and stakeholder of the NNPP had supported thousands of youths to achieve their dreams.

He highlighted that some of the people who benefitted from Kwankwaso's support in politics among other areas included the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

He further stated that the nomination of Kwankwaso's son was not a means to pay back for his kindness but to allow another youth to explore his potential.

The statement partly reads: "Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has promoted hundreds of thousands of young men and women, many of them sons and daughters of common men and women.

"He promoted children of nobody to become somebody in the eyes of the world today and he also created platforms and political spaces for many of us from humble backgrounds to occupy various elective and appointment positions at Local, State and Federal Government levels.

"Yesterday, one of Sen. Kwankwaso's beneficiaries, The Executive Governor of Kano decided to promote the son of his benefactor, not really as a pay but because Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso is among the capable youth who worked tirelessly to the success of our present administration in Kano.

"The Governor empower youth and allows them to explore their potential, certainly Mustapha cannot be an exception due to his paternal history, that shouldn't be a barrier to his political career as he decides to be a politician, like his father."
