Govt imposes curfew  in Kogi communities over insecurity 

Kogi state government has imposed restrictions of human and vehicular movement in some communities in Lokoja Local Government Area to tackle insecurity.

This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday, by the Special Adviser on Security to the Transition Committee Chairman of Lokoja LGA, Bala Mohammed.

According to Mohammed the affected areas includes, Felele Phase 1, Felele Phase 2, Adaba, Back of NPC, Back of ADP, Mawogi, Sarkin Noma and Poly Village.

The statement noted that movement restriction is between the hours of 10pm to 5am, adding, this will take effect from Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

"The decision comes after careful consideration of the escalating security situation in these Communities at the security meeting convened by the Lokoja Local Government Transition Committee Chairman on Monday, 25th March, 2024.

"Free movement within the affected Communities will be restricted to essential activities between 10pm to 5am starting from Wednesday, 27th while continuous enhanced security patrols will be conducted throughout the communities.

"These measures are temporary and are implemented with the primary goal of protecting the safety and security of all residents. I urge cooperation from the community members in adhering to the restrictions and in providing any necessary assistance to law enforcement agencies."
