Grammy nominations: Tems congratulates Ayra Starr, Tyla

Nigerian songstress Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has taken to social media to express her heartfelt congratulations to her colleagues Ayra Starr and Tyla for their Grammy nominations.

The nominations were announced on Friday evening, with Ayra Starr and Tyla each getting nominated in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category.

The competition in the category is notably intense, with heavyweights like Burna Boy, Davido, Asake (and Olamide) also securing nominations.

Despite the stiff competition, Tems is effusive in her praise for Ayra Starr and Tyla, acknowledging the dedication and hard work they put into their craft.

“Seeing these girlies win is actually everything because they work so hard and they believed! I’m so happy and proud rn, a huge congratulations. So well deserved. More is coming!! @ayrastarr @Tyllaaaaaaa,” Tems tweeted.

Tems herself is no stranger to Grammy recognition.

She added another feather to her cap with a Grammy nomination for co-writing Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’ from the soundtrack of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.

The track is nominated in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category.
