Group backs govt's choice of HiTECH for Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway construction

Group backs govt's choice of HiTECH for Lagos-Calabar Coasta

The Independent Media and Policy Initiative (IMPI), a policy think tank, has affirmed the federal government's decision to select HiTECH for the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.

According to Niyi Akinsiju, the chairman of IMPI, the organization's research supports the government's choice, dismissing claims made by former vice-president Atiku Abubakar as inaccurate and aimed at undermining the project's credibility.

Akinsiju highlighted HiTECH's track record, citing their successful completion of the Bar Beach Shoreline protection and experience in constructing coastal highways with reinforced concrete beyond Nigeria's borders.

Akinsiju said after making discreet and open enquiries on the company’s credentials and contract portfolios,  IMPI concluded that it might pass as the only Nigerian company able to construct the coastal road.

He said that a cost analysis of road projects similar to the Lagos-Calabar highway in some parts of the world showed that the costing of the project was appropriate.
