Group Calls For Promotion Of Gender Equitable Norms

An NGO, Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development (SFPD), has called on community and religious leaders to promote gender equitable norms in the communities.

Gender equity norms and values are strategies and measures taken in the process of being fair to women and men.

The Foundation’s Programme Officer, Alhaji Musa Galadanci, made the call on Thursday at the training of 70 community and religious leaders in Binji Local Government Area of Sokoto state.

Galadanci said the training was organised to inculcate proper messaging skills and encourage men to educate people on the norms.

He said that with the support from EU-UN Spotlight Initiative Project, the NGO embarked on capacity building.

It was aimed at preventing all forms of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), and other Harmful Practices (HP).
