Group Refashions UNILORIN Gate, Guarantees Five-Year Maintenance

The Hallmark Group has begun the remodelling of the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) gate, promising to maintain it for five years after its completeion.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, lauded the Chairman of the group, Dr Adeola Badru, for keeping to his word of refashioning the institution's gate.

Egbewole expressed satisfaction with the architectural sketch of the proposed remodelling.

He pleaded with the site worker to make sure traffic plans are followed to ensure smooth vehicular movement into and outside the university's campus while the construction is ongoing.

The VC also urged Badru the Chairman maintain the green lawn from the University Gate to Unilorin Water Junction.

He further said the institution expects more collaborations with the private sector and friends of the university.

Earlier in his remark, Badru said the idea of remodelling the gate of the university was born during the inauguration of Egbewole, his friend, as the 11th chancellor.

The Chairman pledged that his company would also maintain the remodelled gate for five years upon completion

The Registrar, Dr Fola Olowoleni, appreciated Badru for deciding to remodel the gate, noting that for the gate is the face of the university.

Olowoleni urged the Hallmark Group Chairman to consider assisting with the drainage system leading to the university gate so as to preserve the beauty of the gate when completed.

Toyin Jimoh, the Acting Director of the Physical Planning Unit, also thanked the philanthropist for his thoughtful donation to the university.

Jimoh advised other stakeholders to help the university to achieve remarkable heights.
