The Coalition for True Governance (CTG) has demanded the immediate impeachment of Governor Hope Uzodinma over the recurring killings in the Imo State.
According to Daily Post, the group also urged security agencies to beam their searchlight across Imo over the spate of insecurity amid the workers’ industrial action.
Speaking through a statement on Tuesday, the Convener of the group, Charles Odenigbo, charged members of Imo House of Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against the governor.
The group said that Uzodimma's “lack of action and leadership” in addressing burning issues, have caused significant disruption and fear in the state.
"Just a few weeks back, five policemen and a couple were gruesomely killed in Ngor-Okpala area of the state. This is disheartening.
“The ongoing workers’ strike has caused significant disruption to public services, with healthcare and education being severely affected.”
They knocked Uzodinma for “falling to take proper steps to address the concerns of workers, and failing to engage in meaningful dialogue”.
“The lawmakers in the state are there for a reason; to serve the people.
"If the Governor continues failing in his duties, the option of impeachment should be considered."
