GTBank, Access Bank, Others Release Guidelines Customers Must Follow To Enter Their Banks

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the likes of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), Access Bank and Polaris Bank have issued guidelines for customers to follow if they intend to enter the banking hall.

Going by the guidelines seen by Allnews, gaining access into banks would no longer be as it used to be before the coronavirus outbreak.

It is no news that the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way people live and work, so banks were not exempted in the paradigm shift. For over a month, banks had shut down their branches across Nigeria, maintaining only skeleton operations, now that these lenders are reopening and gearing towards full operation, there are guidelines on customer conduct that must be adhered to.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had relaxed the lockdown, stating that business operation can resume on May 4, 2020, but within a limited timeframe. The directive had led to some banks reopening some of their branches. The COVID-19 cases confirmed in Nigeria are now 2558.

Guidelines that customers must comply with

Bank operation is resuming gradually, with customers storming their premises to make various transactions. But customers won’t be allowed into their branches or banking hall if the following guidelines are ignored.

No mask, no entry: While the Federal and State Government have advised Nigerians to use their mask, some still move around without it. Any individual who intends to visit Polaris Bank, the person won't be allowed access into the bank, "You will not be allowed into the branch without a face mask" Polaris Bank stated in a statement seen by Allnews.

GTBank also cautioned their customers, "On your part, kindly ensure that you have your face mask on" at every branch.

Access Bank said, “Please ensure you wear your masks to protect yourself and those around you. Wearing face masks is a mandatory requirement to access public places including our premises.”

Compulsory hand sanitiser: Sanitiser has now become a major item if anyone intends to gain access to either GTBank or Polaris. Both banks said any customer or individual hoping to make transaction in their banking hall must apply sanitizer in front of their branches, “This is compulsory before you step into the branch.” Polaris Bank stated.

Adhere to social distancing: Customers must adhere to the social distancing within the bank. If customers gather in large numbers without spacing themselves, they won't be allowed into the bank. This was seen in various videos captured at bank gates today. Banks closed the gate against the crowd trying to gain access to their premises by force.

GTBank warned in the guideline that, "we would strongly encourage you to cooperate with our Security Personnel at our branches in maintaining order at our branches."

Access Bank stated that “our security personnel will be coordinating the flow of customer traffic to ensure safety."

Note that, with the event that transpired today at various banks where several customers couldn’t gain access to their bank’s branch, it proves that the banks are following their guidelines to the letter.
