Guardiola Believes Game Congestion Can Help Man City's Focus

Pep Guardiola

Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola has mixed feelings about his team's breathless schedule for the remainder of the season due to their progress in the Champions League and FA Cup.

Guardiola acknowledged that playing games every three to four days can help his team maintain rhythm and focus, but also acknowledged the challenges of fatigue and potential injuries.

Manchester City will host Leicester City on Saturday, sandwiched between the first and second legs of their Champions League semi-final with Bayern Munich, making it a stretch of three games in eight days.

Guardiola emphasized the importance of each game as Manchester City chase a less busy Arsenal in the Premier League title race.

He stated that one more loss this season would prevent them from retaining their crown, and highlighted the six-point gap between Manchester City and Arsenal, who have dropped few points throughout the season and have the advantage of playing one game a week with more time for recovery and preparation.

Manchester City are currently unbeaten in 13 matches in all competitions, and Guardiola believes that the past success of his team can impact their performance in the crucial upcoming weeks.

He stated that the players understand the gravity of every moment and the need to win every game to stay in the title race.

Guardiola also acknowledged that there are no guarantees of winning the games in hand, despite being six points behind Arsenal.

He emphasized the need for his team to maintain focus, intensity, and determination in every action and set piece to maximize their chances of closing the gap in the title race.

Manchester City's next league game against Arsenal on April 26th at the Etihad Stadium is expected to be a thrilling encounter, with the league leaders visiting the defending champions.

Meanwhile, Leicester City, who are currently in the relegation zone in 19th place, but just two points behind Everton in 17th, will be hoping to capitalize on Manchester City's congested schedule and secure crucial points in their battle to avoid relegation.

Arsenal will play West Ham United on Sunday as they aim to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
