Guber: CAN Endorses Peter Mbah, Urges Enugu People To Vote For Him

Guber: CAN Endorses Peter Mbah, Urges Enugu People To Vote F

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Enugu State Chapter has urged its members across the state to vote for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Dr Peter Mbah.

The group said Mbah possessed the qualities needed for economic rebirth, industrialisation, job creation, peace and security and a thriving environment for investments in the state.

The largest Christian organisation, which is made up of numerous denominations, disclosed its position on Monday in Enugu at an interactive session it had with the leading governorship candidate.

They stressed that Mbah’s qualifications and preparedness for the task ahead convinced them of his capacity to deliver good governance and transform the state for the good of the people.

The influential religious body, while appealing to voters to queue behind the ruling party’s candidate, said its decision to support Mbah was anchored on his proven capacity, competence, character, and outstanding track records both in the private sector and public sector.

Declaring that people should look out for a candidate with the capacity and competence to provide new infrastructure and basic amenities such as running water, good roads, a robust healthcare system, and quality education, CAN said the programmes presented by Mbah had shown he would do beyond that since he had been able to do that for the people with his personal resources.

Speaking at the session, the Secretary of the spiritual body, Rev. Barr. Obiora Okeke, extolled Mbah’s entrepreneurial exploits in the private sector, stressing that Mbah would do very well with the support of the people.

He said individuals should vote only for candidates with competence and capacity, and not political parties, as the future of the state is critical and must be entrusted to someone who has proved himself to be capable.

Commending Mbah over his eloquent presentation, the Chairman of CAN in the state, Rev. Emmanuel Edeh, stated that Mbah has been able to convince the people of his capacity to deliver a new state through his well-designed manifesto and programmes.

“Like he said, Dr Peter Mbah is not a stranger to the things he said he would do because he has done them already with evidence and verifiable proofs in the private sector,” he said.

Describing Mbah’s project as their collective project, Rev. Edeh commended him for the timely unveiling of his manifesto on October 13, 2022, at the Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu.

According to him, Mbah has done many laudable projects for the state, including the construction of the state-of-the-art Faculty of Law Auditorium, at the Catholic University’s Godfrey Okoye University.

Speaking earlier, the PDP gubernatorial flagbearer, commended the church for holding to the tenets of Christianity and preaching the gospel as laid down by Christ, adding that his Christian virtues in life had helped him in carrying on with daily activities with high moral standards and fear of God.

He called on the Christians and people across the state to vote for candidates with competence, capacity and character, outstanding records of development and avoid voting for someone because of clannish sentiments or party affiliation.

The governorship hopeful urged voters to ask anyone coming for their votes to present their manifestos, programmes, and achievements in their previous offices, enjoining them not to vote again for career politicians or those who have no life or business outside politics.

Mbah vowed that he would provide water for the people of the state within 180 days of his administration, bring innovation to the socio-economic status of the state and enable industrialisation which will create millions of jobs for the youths.

He promised that his administration will eradicate poverty, insecurity, guarantee food security through agro-allied processing industries and harness the mineral deposits for an alternative financing model.
