Gunmen Abducts Mother Of Chief Of Staff To Kogi Governor

Gunmen have abducted the mother of the Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello, Abdulkarim Asuka, in Kogi State.

The victim, Seriya Raji, was reported to have been abducted from her residence on Monday evening at Inese/Ovakere New Layout in the Nagazi community.

Nagazi community is located in the Adavi Local Government Area of the state. Police authorities in the state are yet to confirm the incident.

The stories going around social media on Tuesday, stated that the gunmen stormed Seriya’s residence at about 7:40 pm shortly after she observed the evening prayer at a mosque within the premises.

He explained that the abductors, numbering about six and dressed in black suits with masks, came with a polytene bag suspected to be concealing guns and other dangerous weapons.

The victim’s house was accessed through the mosque and she was whisked away to an unknown destination, using the car they brought for the operation.

As of the time of filing this report, the abductors are yet to make any contact with the family of their victim.

A security source, however, confirmed the incident adding that the tactical squad have been deployed to the area.

Insecurity has been on the rise in the state in recent times.

Serial abductions in Kabba-Bunu-Ijunu, Mopamuro and Adavi LGAs in addition to the jailbreak in Kabba Correctional
Centre are strong indications that Kogi may be under siege, indeed.
