Gunmen Attack Police Station, Kidnap Two in Adamawa

Gunmen have attacked a police station in Ngurore, Yola south LGA in the early hours of Sunday.

The gunmen also kidnapped one Hauwa Umaru and her daughter in the same area.

This was confirmed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Sulaiman Ngurore.

Ngurore confirmed that the incident happened at 2am on Sunday while stating that the attack did not leave any casualty.

In his statement, he said, “The criminals separated into two groups; one attacked the police station to divert the attention of security operatives, while the other group attacked Alhaji Umaru’s house and kidnapped his wife, Hauwa Umaru, and her daughter.

“The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Mohammed Barde, has ordered the deployment of the operational assets including Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Crack Squad and Anti-Kidnapping units to Ngurore.”

Ngurore further explained that the operational units will ensure the combing of the area, arrest of the culprits and rescue the victims.

The commissioner of police in the state, Mohammed Barde reiterated the police commitment in restoring law and order in the affected area.

The Head of the Police Intervention Team, Babagana Abubakar had already commenced coordination and rescue operations.

The command also urged people to be vigilant while carrying out their normal activities and report any suspicion.
