Gunmen Kidnap Four Persons In Abuja

No less than four persons have been abducted in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Recently, kidnapping has been on the rise in the Kuje Area Council of the FCT, Abuja. and it was learned that the latest attack happened around 3 am on Wednesday as the gunmen attacked the victims’ residences in Kiyi village, Kuje, whisking away the four residents to an unknown destination.

One of the victims, Olalekan Salami, who is a senior staff of the FCT Administration, was picked from his house. His elder brother, William Salami, told journalists.

According to Salami, the abductors gained access into the house through the window before demanding cash that was immediately handed to them.

The abductors also carted away phones and a cooking pot, along with his younger brother before moving to other houses.

According to a report, the three other victims have been identified as a motorcycle rider, a PHCN worker, and a taxi driver.

Salami added that the abductors are demanding for N50 million as ransom for the release of his brother

The FCT police spokesperson, Mariam Yusuf, confirmed the abduction, adding that the Police had launched a rescued operation for the victims.

“Yes, four persons were kidnapped at Kiyi village of Kuje axis,” Yusuf told journalists. We have launched an operation to rescue the victims and apprehend the fleeing suspects.”

According to HumAngle investigation, kidnapping in Abuja started as theft, burglaries, and some cases of armed robbery but had since developed into a full-scale abduction, especially in the Kuje Area Council, one of the six area councils in the FCT, Abuja.

The development has changed the lives of some residents, socially and economically, since the abduction has been persistent.

However, the police said several counter-kidnapping measures had been employed to secure Kuje resident’s area of the Federal Capital Territory, including the launching of covert operations.
