Gunmen Kill Five Persons, Injure Three In Plateau

Gunmen reportedly kill five persons and injured three others in some communities of Iregwe Chiefdom of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau on Monday.

Davidson Malison, National Publicity Secretary, Iregwe Development Association, stated on Tuesday in Jos that the attack was immediately reported to the police and the military in the state.

Malison stated that the assailants struck in the night, killed and injured their victims, destroyed a vehicle and carted away from some motorcycles.

He named those killed and injured in the affected communities of Nzhwerenvi, Kara, Gero and Mararaban Tipper and added that the injured were still receiving treatment in the hospital.

When contacted, ASP Ubah Ogiba, Police spokesman in Plateau, confirmed that a report of the attack had been lodged with the police.

Ogiba assured that the police would investigate the incident.

Major Ishaku Takwa, Media Officer of Operation Safe Haven, the Special Task Force maintaining peace in Plateau and environs, however, said: “I don’t have the details.’’
