Gunmen Open Fire At The Rigasa Train Station Kaduna

Gunmen opened fire on passengers at the Rigasa train station in Kaduna State on Friday, according to a security official that spoke with TheCable news. The source stated that the attack happened immediately after the train conveying passengers from Abuja arrived at the station in Kaduna.

According to the source, “When the 6:30pm train from Abuja arrived Kaduna around 8pm, the passengers disembarked. Some of them proceeded to their destinations but those who tried to connect the town through the Rigasa-Airport road came under gunfire from suspected bandits."

The source also added that vehicle owners fled their vehicles during the time of the attack.

A resident of the area reported that the attackers only fled the scene after security operatives arrived at the scene.

“There was an attempted attack on passengers around the Rigassa train station but it was repelled by the army, I don’t have the details,” the  resident said.

When reporters tried reached out to the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, , for comments on the incidents, there was no response to the calls and texts that were put through.

Although, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, Yakubu Sabo, said that he was unaware of any such incident but made a promise to investigate the issue and respond promptly.
