Gunmen Who Attack Imo Prison, Police Command Are Cowards –

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has described the attackers of the Correctional Centre and the Imo State Police Command headquarters in Owerri, Imo State Capital as cowards.

The Vice President said this on Tuesday during his inspection to the affected facilities in the Imo state capital.

Osinbajo also disclosed that the Federal Government was adopting measures to forestall further attacks on security formation in the state.

He maintained that the government would strengthen security at the correctional centres, police formation and the state at large to curb rising insecurity challenges in the country.

The Professor spoke to journalists after inspecting the level of damage at the correction service facility and the police headquarters.

He stated that, “This incident is cowardly. Any attack on institutions of law and order was an attack on the well being of the citizens”

Similarly, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on Tuesday, said that the inmates who escaped would be pardoned if they returned voluntarily.

The Minister made the comment after inspecting the correctional service facility attacked by the hoodlums.
