Haaland Fires Man City To Derby Victory Over Man Utd

Erling Haaland struck twice and contributed an assist to help Manchester City condemn Manchester United to a damaging 3-0 defeat in Sunday's derby.

The encounter at Old Trafford was largely one-sided as the hosts rarely proved to be a threat against their rivals who established superiority from the kick-off.

City were ahead after 26 minutes when Rasmus Hojlund was pendalised for dragging down Rodri following the intervention of VAR.

Haaland was on hand to convert from the spot and sent goalkeeper Andre Onana the wrong way.

The lead should have been doubled on the stroke of half-time but Onana produced a brilliant save to deny Haaland a second from a far-post header.

Haaland would not be denied a second four minutes after the break as he headed home a perfect cross from Bernardo Silva to increase City's lead.

The Norwegian then turned provider 10 minutes from time, setting up Phil Foden to tap home from close range and wrap up a convincing victory.

City are now third in the early standings, behind Arsenal only on goal difference, while United are in eight place and eight points adrift from the top four.
