Haaland Shines As Man City Beat Burnley To Kick Off Premier

Defending champions Manchester City kicked off their Premier League campaign with a bang, beating newcomers Burnley 3-0 on Friday evening.

Erling Haaland ran the show at Turf Moor, picking up from where he stopped in the previous season by registering a brace.

City however saw captain Kevin De Bruyne forced off with injury in the 23rd, though he was able to walk down the tunnel without assistance.

It was business as usual for Pep Guardiola's men who had their foot on the gas from the very first minute and went ahead after three minutes.

Haaland scored the opener and the first league goal of the season with his first touch after Rodri nodded back De Bruyne's cross across goal for the Norwegian to tap home.

That goal ended a mini-drought of seven competitive games without a goal.

Not satisfied with one goal to his name, Haaland mercilessly doubled his side's lead before the interval, firing home from inside the area with just his ninth touch of the ball.

After several encounters in the second-half, Rodri then put the game to bed when he lashed home a loose ball in the box.

The goal ruined Burnley's night just before their woes were compounded in stoppage time when Anass Zaroruy was sent off for a reckless challenge on deputy captain Kyle Walker.

City eventually saw the match out without a reply from Vincent Kompany's men to pick up their first three massive points on the road.
