The Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Dr Yusuf Yakubu Alrigasiyyu has received the Comptroller of Immigration Kaduna Command, O. Adapoyi in his office.
While receiving him and his entourage, Alrigasiyyu pleaded with the immigration boss to provide more passports for the state as a means to cater for its wide demand ahead of the 2022 Hajj exercise.
He stated that no fewer than 2,491 pilgrims are expected to go for the pilgrimage from the state as allocated by the National Hajj Commission.
While welcoming the immigration entourage on Thursday, he expressed the need for his agency and the immigration to work together in safeguarding pilgrims in the state.
He explained further that security at the airport has become an issue of concern, adding that the pilgrims need the protection of the immigration service.
He added that for security reasons, his agency will ensure that every screening of pilgrims is done at the Mando Hajj Camp instead of the airport.
He said, “We hope all agencies involved in the Hajj operations in terms of screening our intending pilgrims will bring all their machines to Hajj camp for the screening instead of doing so at the airport."
Responding to the request, the state comptroller said the request has been approved by the national headquarters of the service, adding that the state would have enough to cater for its needs soon.
