Hamilton Planning To End 2023 F1 Season With Victory

Mercedes star driver Lewis Hamilton says he's planning to end the 2023 Formula One season with a victory.

Hamilton finished the last two races second on track despite being disqualified from the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin for excessive wear to his car's plank assembly, which is used by the FIA to measure ride height legality.

Last year made it the first in his Formula One career where he failed to take at least one victory and only three races remain this season for him to end a winless streak since the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in 2021.

But the seven-time champion is optimistic Mercedes could close the gap on Red Bull who have been dominant, with Max Verstappen now a triple champion.

"I anticipate the Red Bull's going to blitz it because the car has been great, but if that's not the case, then I'll be ready to take the fight to them," Hamilton said.

"If it can be anything like Austin and we can get the strategy better, then that would be incredible. I came away empty-handed last year, so I don't plan on that this year."

Mercedes will arrive at this weekend's Sao Paulo Grand Prix having taken a one-two at Interlagos last year, with George Russell leading Hamilton to take his maiden win.
