In a momentous ceremony held at Guildhall on Thursday, England football captain Harry Kane expressed his gratitude after being bestowed with the esteemed Freedom of the City of London.

The 29-year-old football sensation, accompanied by his family, received the ancient honour, believed to have originated in 1237.

Kane, renowned as England's all-time leading scorer, was recognized for his remarkable sporting achievements.

Although the award was initially bestowed in November, the presentation of his certificate was delayed until this week.

Throughout his illustrious career, Kane has predominantly played in the capital, representing Tottenham Hotspur and solidifying his position as the club's top scorer.

On the occasion, Kane remarked, "To receive this award has been an amazing honour for me.

"The ceremony delved into the rich history and revered individuals who have come before me, and I feel incredibly privileged to be part of that tradition."

Kane, who was born in Walthamstow, expressed immense gratitude towards London for the countless opportunities it has provided him, having resided there for the majority of his life.

As he proudly represents not only England but also his beloved city of London, Kane's achievements as an outstanding sportsman have earned him the admiration of both fans and fellow athletes alike.

His wife Kate, their three children, and numerous family members were present at the momentous event, adding to the joyous atmosphere.
