An headmaster, three teachers and a deputy head teacher were kidnapped from a Cameroonian high school by armed men, AFP News reported on Friday.
Roger Kafo, the secretary general of the National Union of Secondary School Teachers (Snaes) in the country said; “An armed group burst into the Weh bilingual High School on Tuesday and kidnapped five people."
“At the moment we don’t have any news of the hostages and none has been freed."
Regular attack on schools by armed men have become a trend in Cameroon.
Armed groups have accused teachers/ civil servants of collaborating with the central government in Yaounde.
The northwest and southwest regions of the country have been rocked by violence since 2017 when anglophone militants declared independence from the majority French-speaking part of the country.
The fightings and clashes have claimed more than 3,000 lives and forced over 700,000 away from their homes.
