Health Worker, Three Others Jailed In Benue Ritual Killing

A staff of the Health Department, Shimayina Christopher and three others, from Naka town in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State have been arrested and jailed at the Makurdi Correctional Centre on the order of a Makurdi Chief Magistrate Court for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and murder of Msuwega Abebe. 

Police Prosecutor Inspector, Joshua told the court that one Christopher Shimayina, a Nurse, Matthew Nonor,  Henry Bel, Vincent Shayange had on March 21, 2023, killed the victim, cutting his private parts and dumped the body at Naka Earth Dam. 

The police in Naka who launched an investigation when the case was reported arrested the four accused persons.

The victim's phone was discovered with Henry Bel, who took it to the police to the house of Christopher Shimayina who is a health worker with  Gwer West Local Government where the victim was kindnapped and kiled for rituals.

Police also discovered two white handkerchiefs, two small white eggs, two white candles, a pistol and rounds of ammunitions during investigation.

According to the police, the suspects also conspired with one Terkula Jackson, Johnson Shimayina of North Bank, Makurdi and one Jerry of Ukum now at large who carried out the act to become rich.

When the case was mentioned, police  prosecuting officer asked for another date for police to arrest the other suspects who are now at large.

Presiding Magistrate Kadoon Gbasha, could not take plea for want of jurisdiction and ordered for the remand of the accused persons at the federal Correctional Center Makurdi, until May 25 for further mention.
