Next N-Power Batch To Benefit From Finance Bill 2020

The next N-Power batch will benefit from the new provision that will be included in Finance Bill 2020. President Muhammadu Buhari recently announced some changes to the Finance Bill 2019, which will be reviewed and implemented as Finance Bill 2020.

While the government haven't disclosed when the next batch will be selected, N-Power applications have already been received, with the government planning to spend NGN400 billion on N-Power and other National Social Investment Programme. The selected applicants will earn NGN30,000 as wages. Read more here.

Why Next N-Power Batch Is Not Priority For Government Again

It is no secret that N-Power and Survival Fund are two different social investment programmes, even though both are meant to protect jobs and reduce unemployment. The government uses N-Power and the Survival Fund for different reasons, but recently, the government has been silent on the next batch of N-Power beneficiaries.

The N-Power programme began four years ago with President Muhammadu Buhari using the N-Power scheme as a way to reduce unemployment in Nigeria. The N-Power Batch A were registered and employed into various fields such as teaching, agro, and other sectors, with the N-Power beneficiaries earning the minimum wage, which is now NGN30,000. As the Nigerian government keep on with the N-Power programme, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has said that news that its supervising minister, Sadiya Farouq wept as Communications Minister, Isa Ali Pantami, ‘disgraced' her at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday is "fake".

According to Sahara Reporters (SR), Farouq was involved in a heated argument with her Communications and Digital Economy colleague, Pantami, during the weekly FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Read more here.
