Hermoso Files Legal Complaint Over Rubiales Kiss In Women's World Cup Final

Hermoso Files Legal Complaint Over Rubiales Kiss In Women's

A legal complaint has been filed by Spain's forward Jenni Hermoso over the kiss by her country's football federation president Luis Rubiales.

Rubiales kissed Hermoso on the lips at the presentation ceremony in Sydney on August 20, following Spain's win over England in the Women's World Cup final.

Hermoso says the kiss was not "mutual" and "consensual" despite the claims of Rubiales, who has been provisionally suspended by FIFA and has refused to resign.

A statement from the national prosecutor's office said: "Jennifer Hermoso filed an express complaint for the facts that you all know.

"The national court's prosecutor's office will file a complaint as soon as possible.

"The statement took place at the state attorney general's office to protect the privacy of the victim."

The complaint, reportedly filed by Hermoso on Tuesday, means the embattled Spanish FA boss could face criminal charges.

At present, preliminary investigation into whether the incident amounts to a crime of sexual assault is still ongoing.

The country's top criminal court emphasises that the investigation is necessary "to determine their legal significance" in light of the "unequivocal nature" of 33-year-old Hermoso's statements.
