Hon. Bisola Fadayomi: The Councillor With A Difference

Hon. Bisola Fadayomi: The Councillor With A Difference

Councillor representing Ward B in Ifako-Ijaye Local Government Area of  Lagos, Hon. Bisola Fadayomi, in the spirit of the season, showed why politics goes beyond matters of gender and is best left in the hands of those who genuinely have the welfare of the people at heart.

Her generous act, done out of the need to put smiles on the faces of her people rather than score any cheap accolades, is worthy of commendation, to encourage her to do more. The gesture should also serve as the wake-up call for her colleagues to take a cue from the reserved, honourable lady, who is setting the pace for others to follow. Now is not the time to look at what others didn’t do; instead, it is the time to show appreciation for the one person who did.

Yuletide has always been a time to show love, to lend out a helping hand to the less privileged and privileged alike. Probably remembering the words of Denzel Washington that said: “At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished… it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back,” she chose that same period to look inward. To share happiness. To give back to her people and reassure them that they have the person with their best interest at heart as their representative.

Hon. Bisola Fadayomi, in the spirit of the season, gave cash and material gifts to members of her ward. She prioritised the aged and didn't look down on the traditional rulers as well. The 'oloris' were not left out of the largess of her heart. Did she stop there? No! Her party excos also had reasons to smile while she compensated those who contested against her at the councillorship level.

This is not strange in the political realm as any aspiring politician will never underrate such gesture. However, what is unusual is that she did all these as a councillor, the lowest step on the political ladder in the country, while her colleagues were lamenting that there was ‘no money.’

The people of ward B should be proud of their daughter, Hon. Bisola Fadayomi, who went out of her way to make the festive season a memorable one for them. Charity, they say, begins at home, and home for Bisola is ward B.
