A group of hoodlums, disguising themselves as protesters against bad governance, hijacked and looted a trailer carrying a consignment of fertiliser meant for Demsa Local Government Area on Friday night.
According to eyewitnesses, the trailer was parked near the palace of the Paramount Ruler, awaiting directives from the council chairman on where to offload the goods.
However, as the covered trailer waited for hours, curious onlookers began to speculate about its contents.
Before long, a crowd gathered and the hoodlums took advantage of the situation, unleashing a looting spree that went unchecked.
“As the looting progressed, other people from far and near got the wind of it and before you know the trailer load was emptied”, the source said.
The trailer load of fertilizer was sent to Demsa local government area by Governor Fintiri’s administration to boost harvest and reduce economic hardship.
