Hoodlums have killed two policemen in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

AllNews Nigeria learnt the criminals also set ablaze a Hilux van the policemen were riding in, an officer was burnt beyond recognition and assailants carted away three police rifles.

The incident is the latest of the reprisal attacks on the police over a renewed fight against insecurity in the area.

A police station was recently attacked twice in the area while a policeman sustained machete wounds as property was destroyed by the attackers.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko MacDon, said only a police inspector was killed and that a thorough investigation had since been ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Amiengheme Andrew.

Dingyadi said President Muhammadu Buhari has given the approval for the project and that the Federal Government has agreed with NPS Technology Company to re-fix the abandoned CCTV project.

“We are moving forward, like you are aware, the 470million CCTV project that has been abandoned. Mr President has now given us the go-ahead to resuscitate the project and we have already entered into a concession agreement with NPS technologies.
